St. Peter’s enjoyed a busy and successful Summer Tournament Week, with over 200 students competing across nine sporting codes.
From Twizel in the South Island to Auckland, St Peter’s students demonstrated resilience, sportsmanship and character.
In BMX, Nico Cogan became a New Zealand Junior Elite Champion at the National BMX Championships.
At the NISS Dressage Championships, held at St. Peter’s, three teams and four Year 7 & 8 riders delivered outstanding performances, with the St. Peter’s Red team finishing second overall.
In Rotorua, the Senior Premier Girls 3x3 basketball team competed in a fiercely contested field. They notably defeated eventual champions Mount Maunganui College and finished an impressive fifth overall,demonstrating their ability to match top-level opposition. The Senior Open girls also impressed, with a young squad featuring three Year 10 students rising to the challenge against older teams. They reached the playoffs andsecured third place with a strong win over Morrinsville. The Senior boys showed clear development across the tournament, highlighted by a tight 7–6 victory over TKKM o Hurungaterangi.
In cricket, the Boys’ 1st XI benefitted from hosting their round-robin fixtures and finished equal third. The Girls’ 1st XI had a dominant campaign in the Northern Districts competition, winning five of their six matches and finishing with the highest points tally. Their success has earned them a place at the National Tournament in Lincoln this December, marking the first time the team has reached this stage.
16 students represented St. Peter’s at the Waikato Secondary Schools Golf Tournament at Te Awamutu Golf Course. Six players progressed into the top 16, with Siline Rattanaburee finishing third. Natalie Sindibohudee claimed the Championship Consolation Plate and the Girls’ Strokeplay title, recording the lowest qualifying score with an even-par 73.
St. Peter’s Premier Girls showed steady improvement at the VNZ New Zealand Secondary Schools Satellite Volleyball Indoor Champs in Auckland, advancing to the top 16 after strong Day 1 performances. Despite tough competition, they bounced back with a straight-sets win over Kihikihi (25–23,25–23), finishing 12th overall.
With the New Zealand Secondary Schools Triathlon cancelled due to wild weather, some students still participated in the Aquathon event in Mount Maunganui, with Silver medals for Mila Moore in the Under 14 and Josie Murphy in the Under 19 events.
Waikato Bay of Plenty Secondary schools saw the team secure three Waikato Bay of Plenty records, 13 Gold, 14 Silver and 12 Bronze. 28students then went on to represent WBOP at North Island Secondary School Athletics Champs in the weekend, resulting in twenty-four personal best performances and 6 x Gold, 5 x Silver and 3 x Bronze medals.
At Lake Ruataniwha for the prestigious Maadi Cup, many of our rowing crews progressed through heats, repechages and semi-finals to make 10 A finals and bring home a Silver in the Under 18 Boys Coxed Quad.
Three students took on the North Island Secondary School Mountain Biking Championships down in Wellington over four days, competing in Downhill, Enduro, and Cross-Country events. Battling a mix of technical terrain, steep descents and endurance-testing climbs, they demonstrated resilience, skill, and determination throughout the competition. Lola Bradley took out Silver in the Under 15 Girls event.
