We were delighted to have two St. Peter's students recognised as finalists in the National Youth Art Awards 2026, with both students selected in the 15-19 years age group.
The opening event and awards ceremony was held at Artspost in Hamilton on Friday 7 August, celebrating the creativity and talent of young artists from across the country.
Year 13 Photography student Noah Kline was selected as a finalist for his photographic work, Complexity. The work explores the external and internal layers of identity, considering the relationship between how an individual feels internally and how they present themselves to the world.
Year 11 student Maximilian Kind was also named a finalist, following his success in the 2025 awards. His watercolour and pen drawing, The Last Whale, explores the paradox of humanity's simultaneous drive to destroy and to deserve and protect.
Having two St. Peter's students represented among the finalists is a wonderful achievement and reflects the creativity, thought and technical skill evident in our students' artistic practice.
The National Youth Art Awards exhibition is open at Artspost from 9-29 August, providing an opportunity to view the finalists' work and celebrate the outstanding talent of young artists from across New Zealand.
