Our Orientation Day is designed to be interactive and engaging. Students will learn a little about St. Peter's school life, meet some new faces and complete Literacy and Numeracy activities that will help provide valuable insight into their current knowledge, and learning levels.

‍

8:30am – Please meet at the St. Peter’s Chapel. Bags can be left outside the Chapel (click here to view Campus Map)

8:45am – Chapel service and welcome from our Head of School, Mr Jason Speedy. Parents are invited to attend the Chapel service before departing

9:20am – After Chapel, students move to the Prep block to begin their morning activities. Parents are invited to stay on for a chat with some members of the Senior Leadership Team members

10:15am – Morning tea break, students to bring their own morning tea

10:45am – Literacy activity in the Prep block

11:45am – Lunch will be provided in the Dining Hall, then students will be buddied up with current Year 7 students and enjoy the lunch break together

1:15pm- Return to Prep block. Introduction to Music at St. Peter’s, in The Hub

1:30pm- Tour of the School, activity to end the day

2:30pm – Pick up from outside the Chapel

Additional Information:

• Drop-off area and parking will be available on the grass field in front of the Hockey Turf. Please enter via the main drive, you will be directed to the designated parking area on the grass. Clear signage will also be in place to guide you.
• Students are to wear their current school uniform (or tidy mufti if their school doesn’t have uniform).
• Please bring morning tea, a water bottle, pencil case, hat and any personal medication that may be required for the day.
• Please inform a staff member on arrival if your child has high medical or dietary needs that we need to be made aware of.

Your child’s medical and dietary information:

• At St. Peter’s, we use a system called Consent2Go (C2G) to manage student medical information for trips/events/activities that your child may participate in. Please make sure you have completed your child’s health and contact information–including dietary requirements prior to the Orientation Day.
• If your child has any medical conditions, or health concerns, this must be disclosed in their C2G profile. Please note, our nurses may be in contact with you in order to ensure we have all the required information to safely manage these conditions during their visit. 
• When completing your child’s C2G profile, we request confirmation of their vaccination status, and this includes uploading a copy of their immunisation certificate. Alternatively, if your child is not immunised, simply select the “No Immunisation Certificate” option from the drop-down menu. If you need any assistance with this process, please email trips@stpeters.school.nz or phone 07 827 9899 extn. 613.

They will move to a classroom to begin their morning activities - diagnostic assessments for numeracy and literacy. Parents are invited to stay on for a chat with some members of the Senior Leadership Team members

10:00am – Morning tea break with current students, students to bring their own morning tea

10:30am – Activities continue in a classroom

11:15am – Tour of the School, activity to end the day

12:15pm – Pick up from The College carpark

Students will explore St. Peter's school life, make new friends through icebreaker activities, and complete short Literacy and Numeracy assessments (no preparation required) that help provide valuable insight into their current knowledge and learning levels.

9:00am – Parents to drop off new Year 9 day students at the Robb Sports Centre, boarding students to make their way from the boarding houses

‍9:20am – Literacy Assessment

‍10:20am- Morning tea break

‍10:30am- Numeracy Assessment

‍11:30am – Lunch in the Dining Hall

‍12:15pm – School orientation and icebreaker activities

‍1:30pm – Parents return. Presentation for all Year 9 parents and caregivers in the Auditorium

‍2:30pm – Orientation Day concludes

2:30pm - Key staff will remain for any questions you may have

Boarding Overnight Stay – Wednesday 11 November

The overnight stay for all new Year 9 boarding students is a wonderful opportunity for students to settle comfortably into the boarding environment, become familiar with routines and surroundings, meet our friendly boarding staff and other new students and ease any nerves before officially starting next year. Please meet in the Gardner Room at the Students Centre by 2pm on Wednesday afternoon.

 For parents looking for local accommodation, we recommend Podium Lodge, Kelly Road Cambridge Lodge and Cambridge Mews, all within 3 km of our campus.
