During the first week of the July holidays, a group of St. Peter’s students travelled to North Queensland on a Social Sciences tour exploring geography, environmental systems and societies, and tourism.
From the outback landscapes of Undara National Park and Cobbold Gorge to the lush Daintree Rainforest, students experienced a diverse range of environments and landforms. The group also explored the coastal settlements of Cairns and Port Douglas before venturing onto the Great Barrier Reef.
The tour provided an invaluable opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world environments, exploring themes of sustainability, conservation and tourism across one of Australia’s most remarkable regions.
A particular highlight was witnessing the “Daintree Double” – spotting both a cassowary and a crocodile in their natural habitats, a rare and unforgettable experience.
