Petra Musica Takes Out MEFA’s National Best Orchestral Ensemble

This news is too good not to share. Recently, Petra Musica, the St. Peter’s Symphony Orchestra, has been named National Best Orchestral Ensemble at MEFA.

This incredible honour comes on the heels of their Platinum Award at the MusicWorks Ensemble Festival Aotearoa at the end of Term 3. We couldn’t be prouder of these talented young musicians.

The orchestra has grown enormously this year, now boasting more than 70 dedicated players. Their commitment to every rehearsal is nothing short of inspiring. A special shoutout to our senior and section leaders. Thank you. Your leadership and teamwork have truly taken the ensemble to the next level, and we know your legacy will shine through in the years to come.

A heartfelt thank you to our staff, tutors, admin team, and of course our parents, whose support with lessons, transport, instruments, and weekend workshops makes achievements like this possible. And to our newest members, your energy and perseverance have made a real impact. We look forward to rolling this through into the 2026 team.

This award is a tribute to the musical legacy of our founding headmaster, Mr Arthur Broadhurst, and reflects our ongoing commitment to nurturing body, mind, and spirit through music.

Congratulations, Petra Musica, what an incredible achievement! Our whole community celebrates you.
