Our Y12 Geographers spent two days in the Tongariro National Park this week.
Aiming to collect data for an internal assessment, students used a geographic information systems survey, along with our faculty drone to observe variations in vegetation across the environment. Experiencing field work is a key element of being a Geographer and gives a real-life connection to their studies. Conditions were challenging with wind and rain but that didn’t stop them from getting involved.
"We talk about having our Geography goggles on and seeing things with that perspective. Everyone engaged positively and we look forward to putting our findings together back in the classroom." Jenny O'Leary
