Opening the minds of Year 8 Social Sciences students
Year 8 students have been on an exciting sustainability adventure in Term 3! They've been diving into all things sustainability, from the environment to social well-being. One cool topic they've been exploring is the magic of green spaces. These lush areas aren't just good for the planet they also boost our social activity and mental health.
In Week 8, 8SG went on an epic tour of the green spaces around the school campus, including the serene fields with cherry blossom trees and the sunning kahikateas. They had the chance to connect with nature and see firsthand how being in these spaces can lift your mood and wellbeing! What a refreshing eye opening experience.
“Green spaces are an amazing place to be in. They provide everyone with a space to be in the moment and with nature. The space helps calm and unlocks an open mind which helped me drastically for the rest of the day. Just walking around St. Peter's campus put me in a notably better mood and mindset. Social Studies truly helped me to form a connection between nature, school and sustainability.” – Lucia
“We are very lucky that at St. Peter’s we have a great range of green spaces across our campus, including the sport fields, farm, and gardens. The greenery is quite beautiful as are the wonderfully coloured Cherry Blossom trees and the towering Kahikatea trees. Just walking around the campus is an amazing way to clear our heads and immerse in the beauty of our school. The sports fields are equally amazing for they are a great space to exercise and to play our favourite sports.” – Valentina
