Alumni Listening Service to close, 31 March 2026
Due to the lack of alumni requests being received for Listening Service support, the School Trust Board has made the decision to close the service from 31 March 2026.
Although the Listening Service is closing, alumni can still access support in future. Any alumni wanting counselling in relation to historical abuses can make a request through the St. Peter’s Redress Administrator: stpredress@outlook.com
Role of the Listening Service
As many alumni are aware, in November 2021 the St. Peter’s School Trust Board acknowledged and apologised for historical cases of sexual, physical and emotional abuseagainst former students at our school.
At that time, the school set up a Listening Service available to all alumni who wanted to access private and confidential support from specially trained clinical psychologists.
While some alumni accessed the Listening Service in the years following its establishment, in recent years very few people have accessed the service with no requests for support in quite some time.
While the Listening Service met an important needover many years, the lack of use has led the School Trust Board to make thedecision to close it.
Counselling Support Remains Available
Despite the closure, please be assured that any alumni who want counselling related to historical abuses can still access support. Requests can be submitted to our Redress Administrator at: stpredress@outlook.com.
All future requests will be honoured with the same confidentiality and privacy as always promised.
On behalf of the St. Peter’s School Trust Board, the school continues to offer our heartfelt apology to all alumni who are survivors of historical abuses while learning and boarding at our school.
Please know that our School Trust Board remains committed to open and honest communication about historical abuses at St. Peter’s. And we are steadfast inensuring current students’ safety and wellbeing is protected above all else.
Regards,
John Macaskill-Smith
School Trust Board Chair
